When to Use Each Package
SOT-23 (Small Outline Transistor)
– 3-6 pins. Cheap and easy to assemble. Use for discrete semiconductors.
SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit)
– 8-28 pins. Hand-solder friendly. Ideal for prototyping and low-volume production.

QFP (Quad Flat Package)
– 32-256 pins. Gull-wing leads are visually inspectable. Good for mainstream MCUs.
